La Fille Mal Gardee

Set in the sixteenth century, this ballet romps through the timeless entanglements of love and marriage.  The Widow Simone attempts to arrange a marriage between her beautiful daughter, Lise, and her wealthy neighbor's simpleton son.  But, Lise is in love with the lowly farmhand Colas, and the young sweethearts conspire to thwart Mother Simone's plans.  Delight in the antics of parents, lovers and neighbors as they create order out of chaos and see what has changed regarding events of the heart--and what has not!  Much confusion ensues before the surprise ending.  The beautiful costumes, sets and music will carry you to another time.  The perfect introduction to ballet for all ages.

Under the Summer Sky

Washington Park Rose Garden Amphitheatre

Late July 2012

Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner to enjoy an excellent program set against the beautiful backdrop of the evening City skyline.  Metro Dancers are joined by other performers for a diverse program of family-friendly entertainment.  Remember to bring jackets as the Washington Park Amphitheatre can be chilly in the evenings.

We have done something to simplify your life, give you a great value and make a little money for PMA. We have made arrangements with Bridges Café to prepare wonderful boxed meals and deliver them to Washington Park on concert day. The food is guaranteed to be wonderful, as it always is. So, after ordering your meals all you have to do is show up with your blanket and enjoy the concert. No hauling of picnic baskets needed.

A few points to clarify,

  1. - Because this is an opportunity that involves pre-ordered food, refunds are not possible.
  2. - If you order a meal and find you are unable to attend, we will pass your meal on to a food charity and consider your purchase a donation to Portland Metro Arts.
