After School Arts Club

On days when your student has a class at Portland Metro Arts we offer...

After-School Arts Club (ASAC): Supervised care for students before and after their classes. Grades Kindergarten - 8th.   ASAC students are provided healthy snacks, homework time and creative activities Mon - Fri from 2:15 - 6:00 p.m. ASAC is not a stand-alone childcare program but is offered as a service, at an additional cost, to families on the days their students are enrolled in a PMA Dance, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts class. ASAC can be paired with Van Transportation. Please contact our office via email or by calling 503-408-0604 if you need either of these services.

Van Transportation: Join hundreds of families who are saving valuable hours each month by scheduling Dance, Music, Theatre and Art classes for different children at the same time. We offer After-School Transportation for Grades Kindergarten – 8. Students registered in any of our after-school classes can be picked up from Atkinson, Arthur Academy, Bridger, Cherry Park, CSS, Floyd Light, Glencoe, Grace Lutheran, Harrison Park, Jason Lee, Laurelhurst, Mill Park, Ventura Park and Vestal.  Van transport is available Monday through Thursday and costs only $5 per month regardless of how many days per month we pick-up. Van Transportation must be paired with ASAC if the student will need supervision for more than 15 minutes before or after their class. Please contact our office via email or by calling 503-408-0604 if you need either of these services.

Our goal is to provide ASAC students with a healthy snack and creatively engaging activities every day. In addition to the rotating activity options, we will always have designated homework time.

Our activities are designed to allow children to come and go as their individual class schedules differ. Children can be in ASAC from as little as 30 minutes to 3 hours on any given day. Because of this our activities are as open-ended as possible as there will always be some students coming and going. If your child has a specific school project, interest or need with which we are able to assist, please let us know. Also, if you want your child to complete a given amount of homework before joining our activities, we will do our best to follow through. While we encourage all of the children to participate in the group activities, we also have independent options that can be quietly worked on.

We have a variety of activities that can either be held outdoors in fair weather or indoors. Students can choose from board games, card games computer games and word games. Simple make and take arts and crafts projects will be offered, sometimes based on an upcoming holiday. We also have puppets, costumes, hats, story reading, storytelling, and other imagination stretchers.

We look forward to having a wonderful year and are delighted you have chosen PMA to provide your children with an arts-enriched education. Please help us grow by sharing our program with friends and family.

ASAC and Van Transportation are only available on days when your student is enrolled in a PMA Dance, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts class.
